Shipping updates
At this time, we are not doing live shipping. Here is what we are doing:
Depending on where the birds need to go, I will hand deliver them for a fee. Traveling to poultry shows, I am well adapted to transporting my birds so that they are less stressed and in better condition than they would be if they were shipped.
I have been doing this for a while and have been successful so far. Myself and one of my travel buddies enjoy these trips and the trip goes like this:
For this we will say the person getting the bird is coming from Texas, halfway for both of us is Alabama. We meet at a big box store just off the highway. This gives me a chance to go over the bird with them, answer any questions, give them their NPIP paperwork/care information. If someone say wanted birds and they were on the west coast, then I'd probably meet a transport, I still advocate for transports when I can; I just do not feel the mail is a trustworthy shipping method currently. So for now birds can travel on a case by case basis. Hatching eggs can still be shipped and I think UPS is the best way for that, but I am willing to ship usps if someone really wants them sent that way. I pack the same for either shipping method.
In the end I want to share these rare beauties, but do it in a way that is safe for everyone.
Cheers!
Krista
Image Description:
A usps box filled with a second box surrounded by shavings. Included is a set of paperwork demonstrating how hatching eggs are packed for shipping.
I use extra fine shavings in the inner box to surround the eggs. Eggs are individually wrapped in a bubble wrap bag, and taped shut. This has been an extremely successful way to ship with good outcomes.
